A WordPress post is a piece of content that appears on your blog in reverse chronological order. Posts are typically time-sensitive and can be categorized and tagged for better organization. They are perfect for sharing news, updates, and articles with your audience. Unlike pages, posts can encourage interaction through comments and social sharing.

Steps to Add a New Post in WordPress:

  1. Login to Your WordPress Dashboard:

    • Open your web browser and go to your WordPress login page.
    • Enter your username and password to access the dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Posts Section:

    • In the left-hand menu, hover over “Posts” and click on “Add New.”
  3. Create Your Post Title:

    • At the top of the screen, you’ll see a field labeled “Add Title.” Enter the title of your post here.
  4. Add Your Content:

    • Below the title field, you’ll find the content editor. You can add text, images, videos, and other media by using the block editor (Gutenberg) or the classic editor if you’re using the Classic Editor plugin.
    • Use the formatting tools to style your text and add headings, lists, and quotes.
  5. Choose Categories and Tags:

    • On the right-hand side, you’ll find options to select categories and add tags. Categories help organize your posts by topic, and tags provide a way to highlight key points or keywords.
  6. Set a Featured Image:

    • Scroll down the right-hand sidebar to the “Featured Image” section. Click “Set featured image” to upload an image that represents your post. This image often appears in post previews and social media shares.
  7. Preview Your Post:

    • Before publishing, click the “Preview” button at the top to see how your post will look to visitors. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure everything looks good.
  8. Publish Your Post:

    • When you’re ready, click the “Publish” button at the top right. You can also schedule your post to be published at a later time by selecting “Schedule.”
